USC Student Politicians Take T&T Parliament

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association of the Parliament of Trinidad & Tobago, hosted the 14th National Youth Parliament, on Monday 31st October, 2016, in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) was represented by Biology majors Mr. Adrian Wilson, Student Opposition Chief Whip, and Ms. Crystol Nelson, Student Opposition Member for St. Augustine.

The Speaker of the House, the Honorable Bridgid Annisette-George, MP, emphasized the significance of the exercise. Participants, she stated, are able to “understand how Parliament works…how important the exercise of the democratic right is…People died for this right.” Annisette-George also said, she watched the young parliamentarians’ performance “with comfort and enthusiasm.”
“This is what our youth need: opportunity”
National school and university representatives drum rolled their agreement to the statement of one Student Member of Parliament, that what our youth need is opportunity.
