Mrs. Gersha Pierre, Quality Assurance Director at USC hands over the QuITE Award to Pastor Robert Liverpool, Vice President for Student Development at USC.

The month of activities themed, “Promoting a Culture of Quality through Continuous Improvement of the Higher Education Sector,” highlighted the needs and mechanisms for enhancing excellence in educational quality among tertiary educational institutions in Trinidad and Tobago. The Quality in Tertiary Education – QuITE Awards for Excellence were presented to deserving institutions as part of the month of activities.

The QuITE awards are granted to institutions that demonstrate excellence in the implementation of its Quality Management System, Student Support Services, and Institutional Research Capacity. As a fully registered tertiary level institution, USC was invited to submit an entry for one or more of the award categories.

USC submitted an entry for the Student Support Services category.   The entry comprised of a narrative response supported by images and a crisp captivating ten minute video presentation, which was prepared by the departments of Student Development and Quality Assurance at USC.  The entry presentation provided significant evidence to the ACTT judges, who agreed that USC provided the best Student Support Services programmes among tertiary level institutions in Trinidad and Tobago for the year 2011.

Guided by its Mission to “Transform ordinary people into extraordinary servants of God to humanity,” USC continues to invest in the development of systems and structures to facilitate sustained improvements in the provision of adequate support services for its students.
