First Phase of the USC Website Redesign Project Officially Launched
Written By: Charlie Ann St. Cyr
A collaborative effort of the School of Science and Technology and the Office of University Relations led to the successful completion of the first phase of the “USC Website Redesign Project.” Since its commencement during the summer of 2011, the two departments have worked assiduously toward the completion of this project.
The upgrade, which according to many was long overdue, came at the nick of time. Just weeks into the semester students were greeted with this new interface. According to Ms. Del Phillips, Director of University Relations, the website was compiled in such a way that all end users - faculty, staff, students, etc. were provided with reliable up-to-date information.
Mr. Bryon Hunte, professor within the School of Science and Technology and one of the key contributors to the redesign project spoke briefly at the Assembly session during which the site was officially launched. He said that the new organization is intended to take users directly to what they are looking for in just about two clicks.
He guided students through the process on how they can access various features of the website. Speaking to students after the assembly session, many of them acknowledged the website with high regard, mentioning that it was long in coming. They are thrilled that this website is now much easier to manoeuvre. Some of them also went on the highlight the flaws that can be found but also quickly added that they are aware it is still in the design phase.
There is still much work to be done on the website, and phase two will include the designing of separate sites for the various schools.
