Research and Scientific Writing Workshop

 

The Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) has been hosting training sessions relating to capacity building among faculty, staff and students at USC over the last two years.  In addition to these in-house training sessions, a workshop on Quantitative Data Analysis was conducted in November 2015 for the community members.  About 30 participants were benefited from this workshop.  The presenters were Dr. Leon Wilson, Provost of Alabama State University, USA and Dr. Colwick Wilson, Loma Linda University.

 

This year, DRI continues to host the research workshops for the community.  The series are entitled as “Simple to Complex: Basics of Qualitative Data Analysis & Basics of Quantitative Data Analysis Workshops” carded for July 31, August 2-3, 2017.

Larry D. Burton, PhD is Professor Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction Graduate Program Director, and Editor of the Journal of Research on Christian Education at Andrews University. His research explores facets of faith-based education, STEM education, and IFL. His research has been supported by the Adventist Church and the National Science Foundation. He has published over 50 articles, chapters, encyclopedia articles, and monographs and given more than 85 plenaries, paper and poster presentations. 

 

 

Jimmy Kijai, Andrews is a professor in Research and Statistical Methodology in the Department of Graduate Psychology and Counseling at Andrews University, Michigan, USA. He currently teaches graduate level courses in research and statistical methods.   He is a former high school science/math teacher.  He has taught in Thailand, Kenya, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Trinidad.  Prof. Kijai is a member of the American Educational Research Association and the National Council on Measurement in Education.  His research interests center around school effects.  His current research activities include a study on college experiences of students at four Adventist colleges and universities in Asia. He is also working with a group of graduate students in examining attempted suicide among youths in denominationally affiliated junior and high schools in North America.
