The Career Development Services (CDS) of the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) held its first Recruitment Symposium, ‘Job Search at Your Finger Tips’ April 1, 2008.
The event was a tremendous success. Our attendees (students and staff) expressed their satisfaction. They felt that the Symposium was a very profitable and worthwhile initiative.
The symposium was a remarkable accomplishment: our students were educated on the careers that best fit them. They were able to make informed career decisions, and got to know the career options that exist in the labor market.
In attendance were:
- REPUBLIC BANK
- RBTT
- CLICO
- FIRST CITIZENS
- PETROTRIN
- ALGICO
- E-TECK
- A-CLASS DRAPERIES & INTERIORS
- SCOTIA BANK
- TRINIDAD & TOBAGO DEDENSE FORCE, COAST GUARD & REGIMENT
- GUARDIAN MANAGEMENT SERVICES/GUARDIAN HOLDINGS
- MINISTRY OF SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY & TERTIARY EDUCATION: On-The-Job-Training
- WATER & SEWERAGE AUTHORITY
- BAHAMAS ACADEMY: Mr. Anthony Burrows
One of our student attendees, Rachel Mangru, sincerely congratulated the Career Development Services department. She was impressed with the department’s swift precision in meeting the needs of the students here at USC. She also mentioned the numerous workshops and mock interviews conducted to prepare students for the ‘world of work’.
She applauds, acknowledges and commends the work of Mrs. Carol J. Daniel, Director of Career Development Services along with the Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Jayne Noreiga, and those who helped to make the symposium a reality.
Rachel believes that as a student of USC, the event was something she had anticipated, and that it has helped her to become acquainted with the various companies she is interested in working for. She said the time she spent interviewing with the various companies was worth her time, and will help her to make an informed decision about choosing a career path that best suits her.
She adds, “Without a doubt, CDS is one of the newest, rapidly growing departments at USC, and I congratulate you once more on a job well done.
I hope you continue to make a difference and help our School to go “beyond excellence”.
You have inevitably laid the foundation and set the golden pathway for others to follow: “More work less talk” - Rachel Mangru
