ALGICO, a member company of American International Group, Inc. visited the campus of the University of the Southern Caribbean on March 6, 2008 upon the invitation of the Career Development Services department. They presented under the theme “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
American Life and General Insurance Company (Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd-ALGICO, is one of growth and profitability which began in 1953 when an agency of the American Life Insurance Company was founded. The company is represented throughout the twin island republic by 12 agencies, 3 general agents and a complement of approximately 400 agents and staff.
Mr. Amery Rauseo, Mr. Aturo Rauseo, Mrs. Beryl Providence, Mr. Warren Bruce, Ms, Ilitty Mollino, Ms. Annisa Mohammed, and Mr. Garth Thomas, members of the ALGICO team, made presentations to the listening audience.
Mrs. Providence opined that the ugly dimension of insurance is not being prepared or putting things in place for death, disability or retirement. Mr. Bruce presented the negative elements of insurance namely - the segmented public perception, unprofessional agents and rejection by clients. Mr. Amery Rauseo talked on the good elements of insurance which are the compensation, bonuses, and group benefits. He also informed the audience of the need to purchase insurance to be used as collateral when purchasing a home, planning for retirement, and to ensure income continues after a disability.
